Code for Rock and Landform Appreciation
Rocks and landforms are the foundation of the ecosystem. They have a close correlation with the survival of living organisms as well as our lives. When appreciating rocks and landforms in the countryside, please strictly observe the following rules:
1. To avoid accidents, stay vigilant of changes in the surrounding environment and any potential hazards, such as rapids, cliffs and steep slopes.
2. Before appreciating coastal rocks or landforms, obtain information of tidal movements to ensure safety.
3. Wear suitable shoes, hats and clothes when observing rocks in the countryside, and bring along gloves, first-aid kits and raincoats/umbrellas.
4. Exercise extra caution after rain or at low tide when rock surfaces are wet and slippery. Watch out for shifting rocks.
5. Never go on a rock-appreciating trip alone.
6. Never visit rocks or landforms in adverse weather.
7. Do not trample or climb any rock that have weak beddings, numerous joints or are seriously eroded.
8. Do not take away any rock, fossil, mineral or silt of any size.
9. Do not beat, dig, damage any rock or deface it in any other way.
10. Damaging or defacing rocks is an offence liable to prosecution. |
