Hong
Kong is home to an impressive range of wild creatures, but even
in the Country Parks many of the terrestrial or land animals are
hard to see. Its ecological diversity, greater than one would
expect in so small a place, is the result of its location. The
territory straddles the transitional zone between two botanical
and zoological regions. This, and its tropical summers and temperate
winter are the reason why so much ecologcial diversity exists
here - and why there is such a wide variety of birds, butterflies
and dragonflies etc.
