Brief
Introduction
The Eastern
District is well known for its crowded, dynamic urban areas.
There are major residential areas, key commercial complexes
and powerful industrial centres. Together these provide
the essential lifeblood of the Eastern District urban areas.
But there is other life as well, quietly continuing with
its own existence-cut off from the city. Into this beautiful
area the Eastern District people come for recreation and
relaxation-joined.
These distances highlight the sheer size of the Eastern
District countryside. By Hong Kong standards, it is no small
area! But what does this region have? What are its natural
features? How significant are its flora and fauna? And so,
most importantly, what does it offer for people? The answers
to those questions are the story of this book.
