Hong Kong,
crowded with its people and busy life, is also a place
of grand natural
settings - with rugged coastlines, hidden beaches and majestic
uplands. Such stunning natural features, seen across Hong
Kong, reach their finest expression on the Sai Kung peninsula.
Tourists who come to Hong Kong, if they fly in along the
eastern flight path on a fine day, often exclaim at the
scene below – green hills, brown rocks, blue seas!
Wave fringed coasts - idyllic nestling coves - steep rugged
peaks! One might easily think one was arriving at a tropical
paradise, not a city of some 6.8 million people.
This
set of postcards portray the Sai Kung peninsula and its
adjacent
areas. Flying high above, the tourist sees over the region
in half a minute. But hikers on the ground see far more.
And there is a wealth of nature to explore - enough wild
experiences to fill countlessenergetic weekends. On weekends,
along the more popular routes, one has the pleasure of
meeting other hiking parties out enjoying the countryside.
But along the lesser-known routes, or on weekdays, one
can hike throughout the eastern Sai Kung peninsula and
barely see a soul. Just 20 kilometres from the heart
of Kowloon - yet one can experience pure wild nature.
The
Sai Kung peninsula is, without doubt, Hong Kong's greatest
scenic gem - and it is for all Hong Kong people to appreciate,
to share and to take pride in. We hope you enjoy this
set of postcards, with its hotspots and photos. Head
out there
- enjoy Sai Kung!
