Beach and rubbish
Beach and rubbish - A beach is a feature built up from unconsolidated sediments, which are brought ashore by wave action and settle along the shoreline. There is a common misconception that a beach is only composed of sand. Here you are stepping on a beach mainly composed of gravel and pebbles. Do you know the difference between sand, gravel and pebbles? Do you remember why the edges of pebbles are rounded? Apart from gravel and pebble, you can also find seashells and rubbish along the beach. What kinds of seashell can you find? Some of them were brought by waves while many were discarded by the local fishermen. As for the rubbish, where did that come from? You will learn more about the life styles of Hong Kong people if you study the types of rubbish found here. What would you suggest to stop the coastline of Ma Shi Chau from turning into a rubbish heap?
